Voting Question: whats the best way to plant a lawn?

i need to plant a lawn be for it starts raining cuz my back yard is all dirt and i dont want a big mud pudle i have 2 dogs what would be the best and cheapest way to plant a lawn that will grow quike and not die in the winter i live in norther Ca (redding) so i dosnt get to cold this is my first time so i dont really know any thing about planting a lawn be sides getting lawn see and watering it what kind of lawn seed and other stuff should i get? some one told me i should do sections and fence it off so the dogs will stay off it what can i use thats cheap (hope fully i can buy every thing for no more then $50)... read more
